“Going To The Source – The Maharishi Chronicles” has the goal of documenting on high-quality 4K digital video and audio the experiences of those who spent time working with, or just simply being with, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. There is an urgency to this project since many of these people are elderly and will not be with us much longer. I feel it is imperative to have a record of the personal, one-on-one experiences that people had with this extraordinary, historically significant Master.
There are two primary end-results of this project: 1) a feature-length film (or multi-part miniseries) to be released to the public, and 2) the creation of a searchable video, audio and metadata archive that will allow people to explore these interviews in their original, uncut form. This archive is being conceived as both an online and facility-based experience.
This is an ambitious vision, but it is very achievable. In fact, with minimal crew and modest support, we have already filmed over 160 interviews in locations across the U.S.A, HAwaii and India.
Now, we need to travel back to India and then on to Europe to film interviews and other material with the many people there. And, we need to begin the process of developing the film into a suitable format for public release. This will probably require the on-camera involvement of a celebrity presenter who will introduce the film and deliver various interstitial statements for the various sections of the final film. This will need to be filmed on a set or a suitable location with a full complement of production crew and equipment.
Additionally, the editorial and finishing of this film will take upwards of a year to complete. After the release of the film or mini-series, another several month period will be required to prepare the unedited footage for archival use.
So, this is a big project and it will require the generous support of many individuals to make this happen. The Dharma Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit based in Fairfield, Iowa, has agreed to act as the financial receiver for this project.
