Interview with Michael W. Barnard

MICHAEL W. BARNARD – FILMMAKER

Michael W. Barnard has been making films since his teenage years.  He has made award-winning films of every description at locations around the world. His first films were 1960s experimental, avante-garde 8mm & 16mm productions shown in venues across the USA.   In 1971, after completing his training to become a teacher of Transcendental Meditation in Mallorca, Spain, he was asked by  Maharishi to establish a film department that would  document Maharishi’s activities and talks, as well as create promotional films and documentaries about TM.  In 1978, after traveling with and filming Maharishi, and making numerous films plus establishing and operating a complete film post-production laboratory in Livingston Manor, NY,  he embarked on a successful four-decade international career as an award-winning Producer, Director, Director of Photography and Editor and established BoltPIX Studios, a boutique film and fine art production company now located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

From 2015 – 2018 Michael served as the Program Director for the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa. He currently lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, running BoltPIX Studios and continues to make films and fine art in locations around the world.
